A four week, beginner’s course exploring the essentials of Family Research.

Presented by the Waterloo Region Branch, Ontario Genealogical Society

 

Limited space is available and cost is Free:

 

Class begins October 18th at 7pm for 4 weeks, you must be registered to attend.

 

If you have your own laptop you are welcome to bring it for the sessions after the first week, free wireless is available.

 

During our 4 week course we will covering various aspects of doing family history research using all the tools available in this modern era of genealogy research.

 

Topics being covered include:

 

·       How to start

·       How to organize

·       How to determine your eventual goal

·       Where to go to find answers to research questions

·       What questions to ask to get the best responses from family, institutions and organizations

·       What kinds of records are available and what they contain and where they can be found

·       Using computer genealogical programs (we will be teaching, using free to download software)

·       What resources are available at the Family History, Public Library, etc.

·       Using the internet (we will be discussing and using many of the major available genealogy websites)

·       How to properly source you work

·       What to do with your research (printing books, preserving, making it available to the public)

·       How to continue to learn after the course

 

 

The course is held on Tuesday nights 7pm at the:
